Lezli Zimmerman - Youth Program Coordinator

Zimmerman began with HAPA in May of 2009 and coordinates and teaches Life Skills education to youth and adults.  Ms. Zimmerman along with coordinating also teaches the Life Skills for the Adult Jail Program. Ms. Zimmerman attended the 2010 Evergreen Annual Conference for youth intervention and prevention staff development.  From 2009 to 2011 Ms. Zimmerman has assisted with the Hubbard County Youth Drug and Alcohol Task Force and its efforts to reduce substance use among youth. In February 2011 Ms Zimmerman attended a local seminar on Behavioral Management.  Zimmerman attributes her teaching knowledge and personable abilities to the varied life exposure experiences and youth leadership training in her youth.  Early education began with her election and appointment to office in 4H youth program from 1973-1975 and district youth church organization worker from 1978-81. These experiences had Zimmerman training and imparting skills to youth peers necessary for completion of goals, projects and fundraising events.  Zimmerman was later elected President of Distributive Education Clubs of America post secondary. This enhanced her analytical expertise for assessment and continued her education in people skills.  Zimmerman has worked for and continues to volunteer and serve on committees with many non-profits some include: MN North District Active Christian Teens, Park Rapids Chamber of Commerce, All Veteran’s Memorial Committee, Jaycee’s, Heartland Homes, Living at Home, 4-H & Kinship most with a youth emphasis.
